Have You Gotten An Anxiety Disorder Diagnosis?

Have You Gotten An Anxiety Disorder Diagnosis?

For a physician to officially diagnose somebody with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) the following criteria must be met:

Excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive anticipateation), occurring more days than not for at least six months, about a number of events or activities (such as work or school performance)
The person finds it difficult to control the worry
The anxiety and worry are associated with three (or more) of the following six symptoms (with at least some symptoms present for more days than not for the past 6 months). Note: Only one item is required in children

1. restlessness or feeling keyed up or on edge
2. being easily tired
3. irritability
4. muscle tension
5. difficulty falling or staying asleep, or restless unsatisfying sleep
6. difficulty concentrating or the mind going blank

Symptoms may also include nausea, vomiting, and chronic stomach aches. There are many other physical symptoms linked with GAD.

The focus of the anxiety and worry isn’t confined to features of an Axis I disorder, e.g., the anxiety or worry isn’t about having a panic attack (as in panic disorder), being embarrassed in public (as in social phobia), being away from home or close relatives (as in Separation Anxiety Disorder), gaining weight (as in anorexia nervosa), having multiple physical complaints (as in somatization disorder), or having a serious illness (as in hypochondriasis), and the anxiety and worry don’t occur exclusively during post-traumatic stress disorder.

The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.
The disturbance isn’t due to the direct physiological effects of a substance (e.g., a drug of abuse, a medication) or a general medical condition (e.g., hyperthyroidism) and does not occur exclusively during a Mood Disorder, a Psychotic Disorder, or a Pervasive Developmental Disorder.

Finding An Ocd Cure – Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Can Be Cured

Finding An Ocd Cure – Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Can Be Cured

OCD symbolizes obsessive-compulsive disorder. A little over 2 percent of the United Says’ population is affected by OCD, and most are women. OCD can develop at any time in a person’s life and can affect anyone, regardless of age or ethnic background. An individual suffering from OCD has a difficult time leading a normal life due to their repetitive rituals and obsessions.

Some common rituals include excessive hand-washing, checking repeatedly to make sure the doors are locked, counting, etc. Other preoccupations may include excessive concern with dirt, contamination, attention to detail, intrusive thoughts about violence, injureding someone else or themselves, frequent thoughts about taboo sexual activities that seem uncontrollable, and a fear that something terrible is going to happen.

Fortunately, there is an OCD cure. The bad news is that OCD is one of the most difficult illnesses to break free from. Rituals can last up to several hours and sometimes even days.

A lot of people repeat easy rituals over and over again throughout the day. Many individuals suffer from embarrassment and shame, and choose not to seek an OCD cure. OCD usually won’t go away on it’s own without some form of treatment.

Professional counseling is said to be the most effective OCD cure. During counseling, an individual is asked to talk about their disorder. Fears, types of rituals, anxieties, and obsessions are directly addressed during sessions. The patient will have to talk about the way that their obsessions and rituals make them feel. They’ll talk about how their behaviors interfere with their life. Every question that can be asked will be in order to get to the bottom of why the obsessions and rituals are occurring.

The patient will also be forced to confront their condition by completing a series of exercises. For example, if the patient is suffering from compulsions related to hand-washing, part of their treatment plan will be to refrain from washing their hands so frequently.

Treatments will last until an improvement is made. Oftentimes, an individual has more than one ritual or obsession. In that case, they’ll start with the one that is either the least or most difficult, and then work their way down the list until each problem is eliminated.

Medication is provided to balance chemicals in the brain. Antidepressants and benzodiazepines are the two most common types of medications prescribed to individuals with OCD. If a prolonged period of time passes by with no noticeable improvement, more intense therapy may be necessary. Examples of more intense therapy include hospitalization and deep brain stimulation using electrodes.

With time and patience, OCD can be cured. Depending on how bad the illness is, the time it takes for an OCD cure will vary. The key is to remain on the right course by receiving persistent therapy and not give up.

Binge Eating Disorder Treatment

Binge Eating Disorder is a disorder in which people use food to satisfy a variety of emotions in order to cope with them. People may binge when they experience any negative emotion, such as anger, sorrow, or depression. Another reason a person may binge is shear boredom.

Binge eating is generally kept a secret. A food addict will usually overeat in private to avoid others finding out about their disorderly eating habits.

Binge eating disorder is probably the most common eating disorder. Binge eating also occurs in another eating disorder called bulimia nervosa. People with binge eating disorder frequently eat big amounts of food while feeling a loss of control over their eating.
This disorder is different from binge-purge syndrome (bulimia nervosa) because people with binge eating disorder usually don’t purge afterward by vomiting or using laxatives.

As in other eating disorders, in binge eating disorder people are often overly focused on and unhappy with their weight, body shape and appearance. People with binge-eating disorder often feel miserable about their lives and are at higher risk of serious health complications than are those without the disorder.

When it comes to binge eating the biggest problem that those who suffer from this problem is that they don’t actually realize that it is a problem. In many cases to avoid others realizing what’s happening they’ll do their binge eating in secret, along with eating more food than would be considered normal. This is because they feel that they have complete control over the situation.

To stop binge eating, you’ve to develop a commitment to overcome this problem. I know it sounds cliché, but it is what it really needs to take. Binge eating disorder is food addiction, like any other addiction, you need to commit yourself to overcome it. Do it one day at a time. Feel proud of yourself each and every day that you don’t binge. Make a plan to limit your food intake everyday, write it down, and stick to it.

Getting binge eating disorder treatment is critical in overcoming this disease. Don’t feel alone and helpless, and don’t try to fight it on your own! If you know you’ve a problem, getting physical and emotional help from various binge eating disorder treatments can help you to get healthy, feel better, and regain control of your life again.

Binge eating, Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are all considered eating disorders because they involve unhealthy patterns of eating. People with bulimia nervosa (sometimes called binge-purge syndrome) binge on food and then vomit or use laxatives to avoid gaining weight. They may also fast (stop eating for a while) or compulsively exercise after an eating binge.

Dieting is one of the biggest causes of overeating. A good majority of binge eaters have been yo-yo dieters for the better part of their lives. Yo-yo dieting destroys the delicate nutritional balance within your body and leads to strange eating behaviors. First, when natural hunger is curbed to a damaging extent, the body is unable to recognize it. Instead, you feel perennially hungry.

Panic Disorder Treatment: The Three Phrases of Panic Treatment

Panic Disorder Treatment: The Three Phrases of Panic Treatment

A panic attack leads to an impromptu flood of fear in a person, which peaks to alarming levels within a few minutes. This kind of an attack can occur without any warning or apparent cause and, obviously, can be very frightening. While most of us feel panic stricken only in situations of eminent danger, people suffering from panic disorder can suffer a panic attack almost anywhere, even during the most normal of situations, like driving a car, sitting in a meeting, shopping, or while sleeping at night.

Panic disorder symptoms can often be similar to those of other illnesses such as heart attacks, thyroid problems or breathing disorders. Hence, panic disorder is often misdiagnosed. However, once correctly diagnosed, panic disorder treatment should immediately follow since people experiencing panic attacks are usually very motivated to end the terrifying attacks and return to a normal life.

Therapists can use various panic disorder treatments depending on the exact situation and severity of the attacks. They’ll often seek to identify the following symptoms in patients:

1. A suffocating feeling that gives rise to a need to escape.

2. Nausea or stomach pains

3. Hyperventilation

4. Excessive sweating

5. Hands and feet going numb

6. Sudden chills or heat flushes

7. Chest ache and uneasiness

8. Giddiness

9. Fear of death (for no apparent reason)

Though the immediate effects of a panic attack are not life threatening, the absurdity of the situation and the feeling of things being out of control can leave the patient in a say of shock and panic. Additionally, the patient may avoid being present in the same physical location where the attack occurred for fear of it happening again.

Panic disorder treatment techniques like meditation, relaxation and Cognitive Behavior Therapy involve working to calm the underlying fear that’s present during the attacks.

In the first phase of the therapy the patient is informed about panic disorder. Simply comprehending the idea of what panic disorder actually is and how many other people also suffer from it helps the patient to deal with feelings of isolation and lonliness that many panic sufferers experience.

Due to the terror of recurring panic attacks, some patients can begin dwelling in an unreal world, bigly driven by her/his negative thought cycle. Phase I of panic disorder treatment, therefore, involves restructuring the thought process of a patient and transforming negative thoughts into positive ones.

Phase II of the therapy helps the patient to recognize possible stimuli for the attacks. Depending on an individual the stimulus may vary from a thought to a situation to something as subtle as a slight change in pulse rate. Once the patient is familiar with the notion that a panic attack is separate and isolated from a stimulus, the patient becomes less likely to the stimulus inducing an attack in her/him.

Phase III of the therapy exposes the patient to the physical sensations that a patient runs up against during an attack because more often than not, it is the fear of recurrence of an attack rather than the objects and events which causes a patient to panic.

Such exposure helps the patients to face the symptoms of an attack and instructes them that these symptoms need not elevate or go beyond their control.

Panic disorder treatments, therefore, try to comprehend the intricately woven pattern between stimulus, thought and behavior in a patient and restructure the thoughts and emotions to better deal with stressors, so that they don’t escalate into full-on panic attacks.

The great debate is over should panic attack sufferers take medication or a natural cure for panic attacks. Here my reasons about why I personally believe that it is more effective to go with a natural holistic approach instead of taking medication for anxiety panic attack symptoms and the reasons why it is superior for anxiety attack panic treatment

Every person at one point in his life can have panic attacks for different reasons. You felt this when you were called by your teacher in lower grade to recite a poem which you failed to memorize a week before. You had a panic attack when you noticed the girl you admired coming your way. There are different panic attacks causes and most of them can be very easy and fleeting

A panic attack is a sudden feeling of extreme anxiety accompanied by significant physical symptoms such as trembling sweating and shortness of breath. They’re usually accompanied by an overwhelming fear of catastrophe – the person may feel they’re dying or suffering a heart attack or they may fear they’re going mad. They can occur in response to specific situations (such as crowded areas) or spontaneously and with no obvious cause. They’re usually short-lived (lasting a few minutes) but are so unpleasant that a person may live in fear of it happening again – in many cases this will lead to the person avoiding situations that they think will trigger an attack avoidance behaviour

Panic attacks occur when the anxiety levels soar beyond the tolerable limits resulting in pulsating heart beat nervousness dizziness lack of breath sweating etc. Medications can never be used to treat them as they just offer a temporary mild relief from the physical symptoms and don’t treat the root cause. Further medications and drugs tend to be addictive and cause more anxiety than the panic attack itself

Panic attacks are more common in daytime. Studies show that 90% of panic attack sufferers go through their ordeal within their busy hours. Ordinarily that’ll be within office hours where the stress level is at its peak level

Panic Attacks are excruciatingly painful conditions to have. Panic attacks also occur while sleeping

Looking For Anxiety Disorder Treatments? This May Help

An anxiety attack may happen out of the blue, with no known direct triggers whatsoever. A lot of people have experienced this at least once in their life and despite the fact that it is believed to be harmless in nature, it may lead to something serious if the person has a history of asthma or heart disease. Other folks experience this frequently simply because of some dramatic or traumatic experiences that has happened at some point in their lives.

If you’re one of those people and you’re seeking for anxiety disorder treatment, you may need to undergo Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a medical professional. With the help of a counselor or a therapist, you’ll start to see various perspectives on the root causes of this disorder as well as how to deal with it on your own. By shifting your thought patterns into something positive and life-changing you’ll have control over your mind and will be able to discipline it the next a panic attack occurs.

Aside from it, you’ll find also casual anxiety disorder treatments that you’ll be able to practice on your own. For example, you’re able to attempt to relax your body by breathing deeply, slowly and meditatively. As you breathe, make an effort to think of wonderful things that have calming effects on you like nature, your child, or your husband. Ponder upon these elements while slowly releasing each and every tension in your arms, legs, and abdomen. They say the mind conquers all and this couldn’t have been far more true than in treating anxiety disorder.
