There was this movie shown way back in 1992 called “Single White Female.” The main characters are played by two famous actresses named Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The character “Allie” is a successful software designer in the “Big Apple” who always found her climb up the career ladder and her personal life as both less than ideal. After asking her boyfriend to move out of the apartment, Allie opened up some space for a possible roommate. After a succession of possible roommates whom she found to be “weirdos”, she was able to settle on having shy lady named “Hedy” as a companion, albeit a paying companion in the apartment.

Hedy turned out to be another weirdo. Hedy became so obsessed with Allie that she even copied her looks, way of dressing, and literally assumed Allie’s identity. Somehow, Hedy found security in assuming the relatively happier life of Allie.

The character of Hedy actually demonstrates the loneliness and perils of a person suffering from inferiority complex. This inferiority complex isn’thing new or rare. In fact, many women especially young girls are experiencing this form of low self-esteem. An inferiority complex is a nagging feeling of never being able to be “good enough.” It is being so “uncomfortable” with how one looks, talks, or moves. It is a total lack of appreciation for one’s self. Inferiority complex is an extreme lack of self-esteem, self-confidence, and having a constant feeling of inadequacy.

For some people their concept of self-worth is based on the affirmation of other people. Affirmation, or confirmation, in the form of a friendly smile, a handshake or easy “hello” decides whether a person with an inferiority complex would feel good about himself or herself. The need for social approval is one underlying needs of persons with low self-esteem. When a person lacks social skills, he or she develops a self-pity mode which may eventually lead to stress and anxiety. According to Alfred Adler, a well known Austrian psychologist, “the inferiority complex” is derived from physical disability or from faulty relationships. This complex is a “need” to validate one’s self.

Some of the causes of inferiority complex include:

l Socio-Economic Causes – This is a common cause and mostly felt by people from a lower socio-economic class or people who worked for wealthy families. Seeing other people living in higher standards makes the person from the lower class blame himself for not being successful or for not being able to provide a better life for his family.

l Physical Causes – This results from a physical defect or lack of appreciation for one’s physical appearance. Some people feel inferior for being overweight, being too skinny, or being too short. Because of their physical conditions, these people think of themselves as less important than others.

To defeat the ill-effects of low self-esteem, here are some tips to feel better about yourself:

1. Never compare yourself to others

2. Work along with others, be a team player

3. Participate in worthwhile activities

4. Don’t neglect yourself-you can improve yourself through going to school, attending workshops, seminars

5. Focus on the positive side of your life- be thankful for what you’ve

6. Read famous people who had overcome their failures and adversities especially people who becomes rich by sheer hard work and determination

Have you heard the adage “You are what you eat?” Meaning, what foods you constantly eat determines your physical health and in part, mental attitude (MA), well the same is true for your mind. The thoughts you constantly focus on will determine your MA, positive thoughts= a positive mental attitude (PMA), negative thoughts = a negative mental attitude (NMA), and your mental attitude is reflected in how you take care of your health.

The secret is, your subconscious mind can not determine positive from negative, that’sn’t its job; it feeds back what’s put in so “garbage in, garbage out,” (GiGo). Example, if I want to be a successful entrepreneur and focus on all of the reasons I’m not, that’s what my subconscious will feed me, all of the reasons I’m not a successful entrepreneur. The following are some steps you can take to achieve your goals.

1. Seek out like minded people, don’t ask a sofa potato how to be successful, unless you want to be a successful sofa potato. The person who isn’t successful can not show you how to become a success; and they probably don’t want you to become successful because it magnifies their failure. So seek out those who want what you want and mastermind with them.

2. Read positive thinking, self improvement books. You can also read how to books in the field you’re venturing into, but always include positive thinking and self improvement books in your library, because the most important aspect is a PMA.

3. Find people who have achieved what you want and make them your mentors. You don’t have to personally know them, just know of them or join an organization they’re leading. However, if you can make personal contact with one of them you’ll benefit more. Real successful people love to share their knowledge, it helps them to give back to society and solidifies what they know. If I’m successful and I can mentor you to success it reinforces my knowledge.

4. As you receive knowledge, act on it, if you squirrel knowledge away you’ll lose it. Procrastination is death to any dream. Only through action do you gain know how. I procrastinated for three months before I got up the courage to make my first video, I could have been well on my way to financial freedom, if not there but for the fact that I was camera shy. Even after my mentor told me that to be successful on the Internet I had to put one video a day out over the next 90 days, I waited 90 days to produce my first one because I let fear overcome my desire for financial freedom. After making my first video, I’m loving the camera, it’s my ideal friend, I love having conversations with it and each day I’m getting superior and superior.

5. Enjoy the journey, life isn’t about reaching goals, it’s about the journey to your goal. If you’re not enjoying the journey you’re letting life pass you by. Most of all you’ll miss out on the lessons life has to teach you. Each goal we obtain should be fill with learning experiences that helped us grow, success is more about personal development than it is about earning money. With a PMA you know that where you’re at now does not determine who you’re. A reporter was preparing to interview a famous restaurateur and in her research of his name came across a homeless person about ten years back with the same name. During the interview she mentioned her findings and asked if the restaurateur was related or knew him. The man said it was him, the reporter asked in shock, when he was destitute if he thought he would achieve what he’d achieved. He said that he was never destitute, where he was, wasn’t who he was, he always knew he would be great that was just a temporary situation.

The famous producer Tyler Perry was homeless at one time, on his way to fame. He knew it was just a temporary situation. There are countless other examples I can think of, it’s all in their MA, their PMA. The bigst reason people read books is to answer some type of question, or questions about a specific topic, or niche.  You as the author are now in a position to establish yourself as an expert about your topic or niche.  Your readers diligently read to answer their questions, success means delivering solid content about your topic or niche to your readers.  Don’t guess about how much information to write into your book just over deliver the content to your readers.  You’ll develop a reputation for writing books with solid content that’s a value at any price.  But, where to start as a writer?  As a novice writer with an overflowing base of knowledge, short books are a great way to get your feet wet!

Write a short book first.

When you use this format on paper or calculater, and you read the text laid out in an organized manor, your mind will automatically want to fill in the gaps.  The human brain just will not tolerate gaps in anything.  Your thoughts will compel you to finish the job.  By using this technique you’ll accomplish an extraordinary amount of work.  After all your hard work how will you tell the world about your ebook?

You can write articles to brand your work in the minds of readers.  Write your articles relevant to the topic of your book, but don’t give away the farm.  The articles are also making quality content for your website.  Remember search engines love quality content.

Blogging is another way to create content for your website, and by using RSS, you can easily distribute your content.  Most don’t comprehend what RSS really is, or how it can most effectively be used to drive traffic to their sites. Basically, RSS is a form of code that’s very search engine friendly. With RSS feeds, which you can add to your website or
blog, you can create content that updates itself.
